Gorge Swim Fest 2012
The Gorge Swim Fest is a FREE, family oriented event with music, food & prizes. It is a fun event designed to re-introduce people to swimming in the Gorge.
The Gorge Swim Fest is happening simultaneously at three locations on August 12, 2012 from noon until 4 pm:
- Vic West (Banfield Park);
- Saanich (Gorge Park/Curtis Point);
- Esquimalt (Esquimalt GorgePark)

why the gorge swim fest?
The Gorge used to be Victoria’s summer swimming resort. From the 1890s to the 1920s crowds of people would come to the Gorge to swim and picnic. The Gorge Swim Fest aims to recreate that appreciation and love of the Gorge. The Gorge Swim Fest offers music, food, fun, novelty races and tons of great prizes.
who is organizing the gorge swim fest?
This inaugural event is being hosted by four of the community associations that border the Gorge – Burnside Gorge Community Association, Esquimalt Residents Association, Gorge Tillicum Community Association and Victoria West Community Association. We are also supported by the the Gorge Waterway Initiative, the Gorge Waterway Action Society and the World Fisheries Trust.
